My first flight on Airbus A380
I have experienced quite a lot of problems when travelling by air: overbooked flights and having to wait sometimes even days to board the next available flight, wrong date on the ticket, visa problems, overweight luggage and having either to discard some of its content or pay an extra charge, to name a few.
But what I fear most is lost luggage, I can't imagine anything worse than arriving at a new city on the first day of my holiday without my suitcases and having to go through all the frustrating experience of filing a report, describing your bag and its contents and hoping that your bag will turn up before your board your flight back home.
However, I'd like to write about the first time I flew on Airbus A380. First, I booked the flight with the Emirates, I paid online with my credit card and selected my seat. On the day of the flight I packed my luggage, took a taxi and arrived at the airport 2 hours prior to departure. I found the check-in desk and was slightly disappointed to see the queue in front. I regretted not checking online as I could have avoided the queue, but decided to be patient and wait for my turn.
I waited and waited, passengers were slowly processed, I was becoming worried whether I'll make the flight. Eventually after at least 40 mins, my turn arrived. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the reservation system, so I had to wait a little longer.
Finally, I got my boarding card, rushed through passport control and security and ran to find my gate.I might have been the last person to get on the shuttle bus and after a bumpy ride I boarded Airbus A330 on a short-haul flight to Dubai where I was supposed to change planes en route to London Heathrow.In the departure concourse, I did some shopping and bought some presents. Not before long it was time to proceed to the gate. I found the gate and there it was - the most amazing aircraft- the QUIET GIANT OF THE SKIES - the AIRBUS A380. Enormous, gigantic proportions, incredible wing span...... there it was waiting for its passengers.
The public announcement system announced boarding and I thought for a second how on earth are all these 500 passengers going to be processed quickly. Incredible as it may sound, they were: first mothers with children were invited to board, then first and business class passengers were asked to use the special air bridge to board the upper deck of the aircraft while all economy passengers (me including) used a separate air bridge to board the lower deck.
And there at the door were the cabin crew greeting passengers warmly and welcoming them on board. I entered the aircraft and was surprised how spacious it looked from inside with the calming colours of the interior. I was directed to my seat, it was very comfortable with plenty of leg room and an amazing choice of entertainment on the in-flight entertainment system.
I was ready to enjoy my flight. After 10-20 mins, the pilot welcomed us onboard, we were briefed of the security procedure and the aircraft was already taxiing on the taxiway. Then, it slowly started to gain speed and without a moment of hesitation it gracefully took off. Such a smooth take off! Beautiful! And then a six and a half hour flight of comfort before we reached London.
I liked the whole experience, the plane, the service, the entertainment system, the wooden interior of the bathrooms. I can only imagine what it must be like on the upper deck where first class passengers can even use showers and jacuzzis to refresh themselves during the flight. The landing was as smooth and graceful as the take off.It was time to say Good bye to the GENTLE GIANT OF THE SKIES.
Once upon a time, In 2006 I decided to travel to Germany. I was prepared and I bought a new winter clothes because it’s very cold in Germany. The day comes for my flight and I arrived to the airport very late. And then I harried up To the Gate and suddenly I was in different flight because they were waiting for some passengers and the workers in the gate they let me through without checking my ticket, I entered the wrong gate without thinking .In the plane I realized that’s this plane is going to Ghana . I was chocked because I didn’t expect this and it’s very hot in Ghana and I’m wearing a Jacket. My bags were going to Germany and I was going to Ghana. I talked to the cabin crew in the plane and they told me to calm down and they will put me in another flight to go to Germany. I was waited for 3 Hours to another plane that will transfer me to Germany.

ReplyDeletethey told us to come early on time in the airport but i couldnt because i had traffic.
after that when i came to the airport i didnt know where are the club and the players should wait.then i asked the security where can i find them then he show me the way.
i was very happy when i knew where their are but the captin of the team scream on my face because i was late.
the security was excellent for showing me the way.
Three years ago , I went with my friends to Doha International Airport to travelled to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia , when we did the chick-in Qatar Airway told us there were not enough seats for me and my friend , they rebooked us a ticket in business class ,after two hour we boarded the plane and the airline gave us a free ticket to travel for anywhere in world
ReplyDeleteWhen I travelled to England. It was the first time when I travelled alone. The weather was nice .The plane took seven hours to Manchester. The staff was really good I didn’t want to leave the plane but I leave it and I didn’t watch all the film. The passport control of Manchester was waiting for me because they wanted to ask me why do you come to UK ? my best answer in that time was Yes because my uncle told me they will ask you do you come to study and you should say yes. The women said go to this room and I waited for three hours and he wants the address and some one help me .The airport do not have transfer . My family was waiting for three hours .

ReplyDeleteI would like to tell you about my last flew on Qatar airways to Turkey. I booked flight,On the day flight I packed my luggage and I want to the airport early, I went to the check-in than to the gate than I board the plane I didn’t have any trouble even when I arrived to turkey. here cames the most interesting about my story it was when I finish my trip. I arrived the airport and board the plane then when the pilot startd the Engine it didn’t work he started again and still didn’t work so the cabin crew told us to disembark of the plane so engineers came to fix the engines it take couple of hours after 40 minute of started the engine they told us to board the plane than it take off there is something that made me laugh on that day one passenger side that, I am an old man even if the airplane Crashed I spent my life I'm afraid of you because you are still young.
ReplyDeleteIn 2009 I went to Uzbekistan to cheer the National football team with Uzbekistan. When I was in the plane , there was a crazy man sitting next to me. He was always taking my ticket and asking about a stupid things . I felt very annoyed with him because he was talking too much. Then the flight attendant give for passengers application about the passengers information. I started to read the questions but the man took my paper and my passport and he wanted to answer. The basic problem was this man couldn’t understand English language but he wanted to try! He was always asking me about the meaning like (middle name, date of birth , ID number ……etc.
ReplyDeleteAfter that he told me he wanted to smoke. I didn’t tell him that it wasn’t allowed and he went to bathroom and smoked there. All flight attendants went to him and because he didn’t understand what they said , he shouted at them in Arabic language. Finally, I felt happy and comfortable because they put him in the black list so he can’t travel next time.
One of my terrible trips was before 3 year ago, when my brother graduated from university of Ottawa he invited me to come for the Celebration. I travelled with my cousin to Canada and we had problems .First problem was with the visa, we had to travel to Emirates to get it, because there is not embassy of Canada in Qatar. Second problem was in the baggage check-in, the overweight was more than the allowed and we were told that we had to get something out or we had to pay. We paid immediately, because we did not want to lose more time. When we arrived in Canada we went to baggage reclaim to take our luggage, we found one of it was broken and anther one was missing. Then we asked the security for this, he said I cannot help you, because it through many airports, I will put it in the missing list and you have to wait. It was long and terrible flight.
ReplyDeleteFrom few days i returned from KSA with Qatar airways in the boeing-777. The trip was amazing and satisfing.IT took two hours to land in jeddah airport,as its a short haul flight.The cabin crew was kind and very helpful,that what i remember mostly as i was awake for the takeoff and landing so i spent most the time fo the trip sleeping.

ReplyDeleteIn the airport I miss my ticket at home when Iwas in check in area Irembar but Ididnot have time to go home. The goodthing my home near the airport. I call my brather to give it but he was in has work then Imanage to find my ticket in my bag.
